Monet and the Impressionists

This is a rare chance to see some of the world's most famous and best-loved Impressionist paintings, including Claude Monet's Water Lilies, Haystacks, and Meadow with Poplars. Around 30 works by Monet will be displayed alongside Impressionist masterpieces by Renoir, Pissarro, Degas, Sisley, Cézanne, and others. Te Papa is the only New Zealand venue for Monet and the Impressionists.
Wildfoods Festival

The Wildfoods Festival is an iconic and premier special event in New Zealand. New wild foods are introduced each year and this year was no exception with such innovations as wok fried clams, sheep milk cheeses, seaweed smoothies and wasp larvae icecream to name just a few! Roving entertainment, mingling amongst the crowd, and continuous stage performances enliven the festival arena with bands, solo artists, mime, comedy, dancers and much much more! In 1996, the Wildfoods Festival was awarded the Most Unique Event in New Zealand and has twice been a winner in the New Zealand Tourism Awards. Attendance each year is approximately 15,000.
Southern Lakes Festival of Colour

The Festival of Colour is a biennial celebration of the arts. Six exciting days and nights set against the spectacular autumnal backdrop of Lake Wanaka. The Southern Lakes Festival of Colour is a biennial celebration of the arts.
The Festival is based in Wanaka but reaches out to the wider region with performances in Luggate, Hawea, Tarras, Bannockburn and Arrowtown. In 2009 the touring programme is to be expanded to take in Clyde and Glenorchy.
